Bellin Run 2017!

I am so excited that the Bellin Run is next week!!! The kids have been training hard and will be completing 6 full miles at practice today. They will be awesome!

Today, we will be sending home a note filled with information about Bellin Race Day. We will meet at our Glenbrook school sign on Porlier St. by 7:15 am and head to our corrals by 7:20. Race begins at 8:00 sharp! Remember to use the bathrooms ahead of time. All runners must be accompanied by a parent to the race. Parents are responsible for their own children. I will be there to help kids get to their corrals at the beginning and then I will be finding a spot to cheer them on! At the end of the race, kids will find our school sign again and their parents.

Here is the information that will be coming home. Please go to the Bellin Run website for even more info!

Cellcom 5K Race

I hope you enjoyed your Easter break!

Today, I will be handing out information for the Cellcom 5K race. The Cellcom is on Saturday, May 20th at 9:00 AM and begins on Lombardi Ave. in front of Lambeau Field. This is an excellent opportunity for the kids to get a practice race in before running the Bellin 10K!

We will all meet together at a Glenbrook school sign on Ridge Rd, get some stretches in and a picture before finding our corrals. When registering, it will ask you to enter an estimated race pace (mile pace). We will be telling kids their mile pace today after running our 2 miles and we will time them again when we hit 3 miles. Registration deadline for the discounted price of $10 is May 14th. (This may only be used for kids who are training with us at school.)

Packet pickup for this race is on your own. Packets WILL NOT be delivered to Glenbrook. You may pick your child's packet up at the Lambeau Field Atrium on Friday, May 19th from 3PM-7PM or before the race on Saturday, May 20th from 7:00AM-8:30AM.

A reminder slip and additional details will be given out closer to race day!

Bellin Registration Instructions

Our first practice was so much fun! We have a very large group with close to 60 runners!

As your child continues training for the Bellin Run, he or she should start thinking about whether or not s/he wants to run the big race on Saturday, June 10th. We will discuss the race more as the date approaches. Registration deadline is May 1st if you would like the race packet delivered to Glenbrook.

With the Bellin Run having more than 15,000 runners, I highly suggest that your child run with a parent or a buddy. Have them chat with a friend at practice and make a plan to run together. When you register, you will need to enter their "pace" time. This is their average mile pace that they will run for 6.2 miles. (Remember, this will be slower than running a single mile). The pace time that you enter will determine which corral your child begins in (Corral A, B, C, D, E, F, etc). Faster paces are in Corral A while slower paces are in Corral F. It is best to be accurate in this or enter a slower pace so that your child feels comfortable running and is not "stampeded" by the other runners.

If you are unsure of your child's pace, I suggest holding off to register him or her until they get a better idea of their pace at practice. We will have days where we will time their runs and call out their pace at the end. As our runs get longer, they will have an even better idea of a comfortable pace they can maintain.

Here is a copy of the instructions for your reference. Only children that are attending our practices are allowed to use the discount code. Thank you!

Runner's Club Training Schedule

Happy Bellin and Cellcom Training Day!!!

Today is our first day of practice for Glenbrook kiddos in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th. We will meet in the big gym after school. Practice will go until 4:00 this week. Feel free to join your child on the runs! We are always looking for parent volunteers who can help us supervise runners while we are out on the course. Looking forward to our first day or practice!
